Vitamins as Active Agents for Highly Emissive and Stable Nanostructured Halide Perovskite Inks and 3D Composites Fabricated by Additive Manufacturing

The use of non-toxic and low-cost vitamins like α-tocopherol (α-TCP, vitamin E) to improve the photophysical properties stability perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs), through post-synthetic ligand surface passivation, is demonstrated for first time. Especially interesting its effect on CsPbI3 most unstable inorganic PNC. Adding α-TCP produces that photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) freshly prepared aged PNCs achieves values ≈98% 100%, respectively. After storing 2 months under ambient air 60% relative humidity, PLQY maintained at 85% 67%, restores PL features PNCs, mediates radiative recombination channels by reducing defects. In addition, combination facilitates chemical formulation prepare PNCs-acrylic polymer composites processable additive manufacturing. This enables development complex shaped parts with improved luminescent long-term 4 months, which not possible non-modified PNCs. A ≈92% reached in 3D printed polymer/PNC composite, highest value obtained a red-emitting composite solid until now as far it known. passivation shell provided makes inks do suffer any degradation process avoiding contact environment preserve their after reacting polar monomers during polymerization.
